I was taking a break from flash photography when I grabbed this shot, taken in available ambient light which was pouring in from a nearby window. A lot of people comment on these eyelashes, so I wanted to highlight them while trying out a "macro" lens which is often used for, as Wayne and Garth famously said, "extreme close-ups." The incredibly shallow depth of field (i.e. only the parts of the face at the same distance from the camera as the eye/eyelashes are in focus) highlights what I was trying to draw your attention to while the rest of the frame becomes a soft blur.
