This was dug out of the "archives" from a decade ago. On a trip to visit my friend Tom in the Big Apple, we convinced him to do a couple touristy things with us and he graciously took us to the top of the Empire State building. After waiting in the long line and the almost-as-long elevator ride to the top, I did the hold-out-your-camera-at-arm's-length-self-portrait of the three of us with the city in the background. It was a nice way to remember the trip, but looked like everybody else's similarly-executed photos.
I thought it might be funny to try my hand (ok, pun-intended) at taking us out of the photo and inserting us into the famous self-portrait of the even more famous artist M.C. Escher. It was an early attempt at Photoshop for me, but I doubt my skills have gotten any better over the years!
